Leaders notice achievements and challenges and people. They focus on strategy and operational work and projects, and also notice trends and warning flags. Leadership requires focused diligence, and also the ability to look up and notice what is happening that is not obvious or stated. Easy to say, requires strength to do every day.
Same principles apply at home. Driving home from a two day Board Strategy retreat this week reflecting on all I had learned, I was conscious not to miss what was all around me. I noticed the road, the trees, and the vibrant Fall colours. It wasn’t enough to just see them. I stopped on the side of the road, took it all in, and captured a photo.
